  • For our Elements of Design final project, we had to create a table setting with a theme in mind. This had to incorporate everything we learned that term, including: spot, line, shape, figure organization, texture, value, color, mood and balance.

The theme: Mad Hatter Tea Party. Fun right??! Well, maybe at the beginning and end but while we were fixing up it was crazy! We were given a 10 feet x 10 feet space, we had to make it look like it was wonderland.

So what we did was created a background that made our little space in the classroom feel like a forest, we stuck dried leaves on plastic and put some dried up tree branches on the sides. Added a little color with the pompoms we hung on the ceiling and combined different types of chairs that were old. (thankfully Jocar’s family have a furniture shop! we had a blast picking which chairs to use). To make it a bit more inviting, we put persian carpets under the area of the table and chairs.

Our setting was a bit too formal for our teacher, he was expecting something more MAD, although he thought the look was great.

I had so much fun being Alice and as a group we had so much fun sharing our food with the other groups! We got to taste different types of food because the other teams had crazy themes too: pirates, spring garden, beach sunset, masquerade, valentines brunch. A fun way to start the end of the first term of PSID! :)

  • I’m learning a lot from my color theory class. I was surprised to find out that olive green is derived from the hue yellow. I’ve always thought that it was made by mixing green with something black or brown. Apparently, its made by mixing yellow and a dark gray. Why is it called olive Green? Can’t it just be called Olive? Oh Well, you learn something new everyday!

  • Going back to tumblr.

    IM BACK!

I decided to revisit my tumblr because I want to record my designs and set up some sort of place where I can store all my ideas as well as post designs online.

I’m in my first year of interior design school and i want to track my progress, this would be the best place? hopefully. I will also post art and photography ideas that i love. Send me links if you find anything cool, i’d love to see them!
